Owner & Teacher
Becca graduated with a BA in Music in 2013. She is currently studying for a MA in Musical Theatre. She has many years experience working with and teaching children, and is a trained Level 3 Early Years Educator.
The Arella School provides Piano lessons for children and adults; and Music, Dance and Drama classes for children.
Our Piano lessons are open to students of all ages. Our lessons are flexible, offering a variety of lesson lengths as suited to the student. We tailor our lessons to individual student’s needs and interests. There is not a set repertoire for students to learn from, instead Piano techniques and music theory are taught using music that is of interest to the student.
We believe creativity is important and that every child should have the opportunity to learn creative skills. Our classes help to build children’s confidence, improve their communication skills, and increase their imagination and creativity. We run lessons in a safe and nurturing environment with the focus on learning through fun, not pressure. These classes are open to all children, with no auditions.
Students who take lessons with The Arella School will have the opportunity to perform in School shows and concerts. These performances are completely optional. Students will still benefit from classes and learn skills even if they do not want to perform in our shows.
Our Piano lessons are taught by Becca. Lessons can be as short as 15 mins for young beginners to up to an hour for adults. Lessons are held at New Parks Methodist Church on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday evenings.
The repertoire/curriculum is very flexible and fits around the interests and abilities of the student.
Our 90 minute Performing Arts class runs on a Saturday morning. This class is a mixture of Music, Dance and Drama.
The music section of each class is a mixture of singing and other musical activities such as rhythm games to improve beat competency. Children will sing songs from a variety of musical styles, develop the ability to sing in harmony and improve their overall listening skills.
During the dance section Children will learn a mixture of dance styles. Children have the opportunity to help create dance routines, and suggest choreography to add to routines created by our Dance teacher.
In the drama section we use a mixture of drama games and acting activities that will help to develop confidence and imagination. Children will the opportunity to improvise and create their own scenes and skits, as well as acting from a script.
Dance and Drama Classes
We do not have a set uniform that children are required to wear, however they must be able to easily move around in whatever clothes they wear to class.
We suggest that children wear
Please ensure that your child does not wear jeans or a skirt/dress – they will not be able to fully participate in lessons as these will be too restrictive.
My little lad has been coming here for a while now. His confidence has grown & he’s become a lot more sociable. The exciting things he learns there, whether it be dancing, singing or tapping away to a rhythm with plastic cups, he brings it all home with him & is proud to show it off. After their first performance during the year, he’s so excited about performing again! Becca is one of the friendliest ladies I’ve met. She doesn’t put any pressure on the children, at the same time gets results from them.Rach (via Facebook)
Lillie is a long term member of Arella. She loves Becca and Carmel because they speak to her like she’s a normal child and have the patience of saints. Lillie is 5 and has known Becca and Carmel since she was 2 as she was a pupil at their nursery little fish pre school in new parks where they don’t just let your child play they teach them properly. When Lillie left pre school I was honestly gutted because she was treated as little fish family and I didn’t ever have to worry about her well-being. But that was when they told me that Lillie could go to arella school as their first ever member. I was absolutely delighted 🙂 i always wanted Lillie to follow her love of musicals but couldn’t afford a stage school but they make it possible. Lil enjoys 3 30 minutes a week on a Saturday morning of dance, music and acting it’s amazing and she lives for it 🙂 she has just recently had a performance where she played the piano in front of alot of people. (Oh didn’t say did I Becca also teaches Lillie to play the piano) these people are amazing I love them and class them as family. Thank you so much for all your support and love over the many many years I have know you. For that I will be eternally grateful xxxxxxxxxxLindsay (via Facebook)
