The Phoenix Class
At our Phoenix Class we teach music, dance and drama skills. This is a specialist class for children on the Autism spectrum.
Using music and characters that our students are interested in means that all children can be engaged and included, no matter where they are on the spectrum.Â
We mix games and activities, from learning a dance routine to helping create one! We play drama games, read and act out stories and learn lots of new songs.Â
A student from our Phoenix class singing in our Christmas show, with Becca playing the piano and Carmel near by for support.
The Phoenix class (along with teachers Kelly and Carmel!) dressed up as characters from ‘Inside Out’!
The Phoenix class playing a drama game called ‘Cyclops’ (which practices their listening skills).
In the Summer Term, we hold our annual show, where all of our students have the opportunity to take part and show their family and friends what they have been learning during the year.
The Phoenix class are included in this, and can perform whatever they would like to, including group songs/dances and individual performances too.
(Our performances are always optional – we will never force a child to perform if they don’t want to.)
Our girl with autism attends the Phoenix class and she is loving it. The level of support and understanding is great, every child receives tailored support and guidance.
I would highly recommend The Arella School for the good time and the great learning experience they provide to all children.
The Phoenix Class is not currently running (August 2022.)
